The vast majority of French silver found today was made after 1838 and will bear only two marks; Silver Guarantee & Maker's Mark. The left example show the large guarantee mark (Minerve) & maker's mark, the right example the small guarantee mark (boar's head) and maker's mark. These marks are often not in close proximity as in the examples.
